What is Podiatry?

The word 'podiatry' has evolved from 'chiropody' (Chiro' means 'of the hands' and 'pody' means 'of the feet'). It is now the internationally recognised term for the care of the feet.

Our podiatrist Jayne Skinner can provide:

  • General treatment (nail cutting and removal of callus and corns)
  • Biomechanical Assessments (to show any problems with the efficiency of walking/running)
  • Bespoke Orthoses (insoles) to correct anomalies and remove pains in the feet, back, knees hips and neck.
  • Nail Surgery under local anaesthetic
  • Foot Dermatology which includes diagnosis and treatment of various problems, including Verrucae, Athlete’s Foot and Fungal Nail Infections.

Jayne also has much experience and expertise in caring for Chronic Disorders and High Risk patients including Diabetes, Vascular Disease and Arthritis sufferers.
